Rosa Mae was
a well known “Soiled Dove” in the mining town of Bodie.
She ran away from home at the age of 16 to escape an
abusive family “working” her way west. In 1892, she came
to rest and made a home in the mining town of Bodie. Not
knowing how else to make money, she continued her
profession as a prostitute. Known as the good hearted
Madame, she took in the lonely and lowly and nurtured
sick miners during a pneumonia epidemic. Due to the life
she led, despite her efforts to save lives, Rosa Mae was
buried outside the gates of the town cemetery. The room
does not have a telephone or TV, so it will not
interfere with your enjoyment of the rustic lodge
experience. Wireless internet access is not available
inside the room, but it's available in the registration
lobby, business center, and restaurant.
