The Log Cabin Mine is a local mine here in the town of Lee Vining situated high up on the hill side above the Lodge. The first name recorded on the claim was J.T. Hammond, who owned and operated Hammond Station Toll Booth (now Tioga Lodge). The mine was in operation as early as the late 1800’s and remained in operation until 1980. It was estimated that well over a million dollars in gold was extracted from the Log Cabin Mine. It is currently owned by the state and still stands today. Break out your sluice box and sift through the number of activities we can provide or suggest to you. The room does not have a telephone or TV, so it will not interfere with your enjoyment of the rustic lodge experience. Wireless internet access is not available inside the room, but wireless internet access is available in the grassy area outside of the room, as well as the registration lobby, business center, and restaurant.
